– Donated SPTC funds P5,000 to the Bicol Regional Tourism Council
for Its Balik Bikol Program.
February to
October – Participated in the ARD-Gold-organized Technical
Working Group for Eco-Tourism in the Province of Sorsogon. Attended
a series of seminars And workshops conducted by the ARD-Gold staff
on eco-tourism capability building.
April 13 –
Participated in the Investment Clinic conducted by Ms. Jocelyn
Sevilla and her staff, Office of the Tourism Coordinator,
Investments Promotion Unit, Department of Tourism, Manila, part of
Balik-Bikol Program.
April 11-16
– Coordinated the local activities of a Video and photography team
from ht e Philippine Conventions and Visitors Center of the DOT who
took footages and photographs of Sorsogon tourism destinations. The
team came to Sorsogon through the intercession of Mr. Francis
Nicolas.
April –
Assisted in the release of a trapped whale shark in a fish pen in
the waters Off Bacon.
May 23-29 –
Participated in the Bicol Food Festival at the Dusit Hotel Nikko in
Makati City. The Festival was also simultaneously the formal
launching of the Balik Bikol Program of the Bicol Regional Tourism
Council. During the same Festival, the SPTC also organized Sorsogon
Night, which was very well attended by the Sorsogueños based in
Metro Manila.
June to
September – Completed proposal for a 5-year whale shark
Research Program for the Bicol Region.
August 1-5
– Set up a tourism booth, in coordination with the Philippine
Information Agency, during the National Junior Leaders Encampment
2000 at Adovi’s Casiguran.
August 25
– General Meeting of the SPTC and election of officers, at the
Vicenta Hall, Fernando’s Hotel, Sorsogon and naming Mr. Francis
Nicolas as consultant of SPTC.
September 7-8
– Participated in the Bicol Regional Tourism Assembly at Villa
Caceres, Naga City.
October 16
– With the assistance and support of the Nicolas/Lewis Family,
re-opened the old Bacon Airport, which had remained closed and
unused for many years. Donated a tourism billboard to the Province
of Sorsogon.
October 17
– Coordinated the local activities of the Probe Team of the ABS-CBN
TV Network during the Kasanggayahan Festival, which also featured a
Sorsogon cuisine demonstration.
October 17-24
– Participated in the annual Kasanggayahan Festival with a series
of tourism-oriented activities, including an on-the-spot tourism
poster-making contest for high school student.
October –
Produced the first 3-year Sorsogon Eco-Tourism Calendar with the
assistance and support of the Nicolas/Lewis Family through Mr.
Francis Nicolas.
November 24-26 –
Participated in the annual Philippine Travel Mart at the SM Megamall,
Mandaluyong City, organized by the Philippine Tour Operators
Association (PHILTOA). The SPTC contributed from its funds, P5,000
for the common Bicol tourism booth.
November 24-30
– Participated in the observance of National Tourism Week by
setting up a photo-exhibit at the lobby of the Sorsogon Provincial
Capitol building.
November 25
– Organized and coordinated with the assistance and support of
DOT-5, a familiarization tour for the members of the local press, on
the eco-tourism destinations in Prieto-Diaz.
November –
Cooperated with the Sorsogon Provincial Government in putting
together information materials about the province (videos and
photos), which were presented during an investment conference at the
Asian Institute of Management (AIM), Makati City.
December –
Co-sponsored with the Nicolas-Lewis and Mateo Families the
construction of new and clean restrooms and dressing room facilities
at the Mateo Hot and Cold Springs Resort in San Benon, Monbon,
Irosin.
Co-sponsored with
the Nicolas, Lewis and Dulay Families the construction of new and
clean restroom and dressing room facilities at a beach resort in
Poropandan, Matnog own by Dulay Family. |
